Burning Man Eyes of Gawd Project The Burning Tribe presents The Burning Dragon 2006
Countdown to the BURN!Saturday August 30, 2008 |
Burning Man
Burning Man is an experiment in temporary community. It is about radical self expression and radical self reliance. These are direct quotes from the Burning Man Survival Guide we received when we purchased our tickets to this amazing event. Burning Man Festival begins the Monday before Labor Day. The Man itself burns the following Saturday night, with additional burns on Sunday night. Burning Man event ends on Labor Day. We arrived on Thursday our first year, not knowing what to expect and trying not to have any expectations. We had been told it was a HUGE gathering of people building a community in the desert, living free from commercialism. Was that possible? With a resounding YES! we discovered that barter, trade and especially gifting can make a "community" work.
I'm not sure there are any words to tell someone how awe-inspiring this event is. If someone had told me what I would feel, think, or see at Burning Man, it still would not have sufficed. Some call Burning Man an Arts Festival. One has to experience Burning Man for themselves. It is true that Burning Man is something different to each person. There is one rule: NO SPECTATORS! Burning Man is what you make it... what you want it to be.
Here we are some 7 years later, awaiting our journey back to BRC. The energy is intense as we prepare for 10 days of unadulterated emotions on every level. We are part of an amazing group of talented people called THE TRIBE. For 2004, the Tribe is returning with TERRASPHERE, the EYES OF GAWD Resurrected, the Mad Scientists' STS (Ship to Ship/Voice of Fire - inside the temple of the man), the Sinners Hall of Shame, and Mars Attacks!
